Decisions, Decisions
We have been undecided as to where we want to spend our days this summer. The pool or the beach. Fortunately for us, we live in a town that has a wonderful pool/water park. It's called Happy Days. A very appropriate title, don't ya think?! ;) So basically, we have a water park to go to that is literally 5 minutes away or we can brave the traffic and heat to go to the beach. We would have to drive at least two hours (without traffic) to get to a decent, clean beach. Plus, it costs an arm and a leg to spend the day there. We've been to closer beaches that are far less expensive, but the water is gross! We didn't have the greatest experience at the closer beach (Valcatura, or something to that effect) so we crossed it off our list and chose to go to Sperlonga.

Sperlonga is absolutely stunning! Definitely worth the extra bit of Euros (for a day here and there), but not if you plan on making frequent trips. YIKES! Italians already get shit for pay, so we must be frugal and spend wisely. If we choose to go to Happy Days, these would be the prices to join...

Abbonamenti
10 ingressi: € 90,00
15 ingressi: € 130,00
20 ingressi: € 160,00
30 ingressi: € 230,00

30 ingressi seems to be the most reasonable one as far as getting our moneys worth. That's 7 trips for the four of us and then we have two more ingressi left over. These are the pools available. I think that's a pretty good assortment. I know if we went to the beach, €230 would be the least we would spend! I'd say between paying for parking and renting an umbrella and chair, that's the first €50 right there!

If we don't go to the beach though, we will miss out on things like this... the girls playing in sand and breathtaking views. I can get over the sand part, because in the end, sand is extremely annoying!
This is too hard to decide!
What would you do?

Do the pools get as crowded as the beach? That would be the deciding factor for me. I wish there were nicer beaches near here. We've gone to Baia Domizia when we were too tired to drive all the way to Sperlonga and it's just yucky. If you want to avoid traffic and find good parking without paying too much, you have to leave the house at 6 AM!

I think I'd choose the beach, although they do get super-crowded like kc says. But, it's much nicer being out in the sand.

By the way, I tagged you but couldn't find your email address. See my blog "The Flavors of Abruzzo" for details.

A bit of both would be nice! Here I get a selection of beaches to choose from but the nearest waterpark is about 2 hours away, we've never even been. Er, do you have a garden at home? There is a good range of inflatable pools with slides for kids!

K, I have no idea if the pools get crowded here, as I have yet to go to one. I've been to Baia Domizia too, and wasn't thrilled either. We've also done Scuari, but it ranks with BD. Sperlonga is the closest decent beach!

Marybary, crowded beaches are so unappealing to me. This is really a difficult decision for me. UGH
I played your tag game, btw. :)

Nicki, now that I think of it, both would be nice. I just have to time things right. As K said, we'd have to leave at 6 a.m. to get a decent parking spot and spot on the beach. A pain in the ass, but well worth it to see my girls happy. I would love to put up a kiddie pool here, but don't think my neighbors would like that. They are somewhat picky.

I love Sperlonga! When I've been it's always been on a beach where you pay not very much for the entrance and just lay on your towel. It wasn't too crowded beacuse the beaches are quite long there.

The problem with Sperlonga, like KC said, is the traffic from here. :(
