:( Arrivederci, Italia!
Well, first off, just wanted to say hi (and thank you) to anyone still following this thing. Yes, I know it's been a while but blogging just felt so BLAH when every day life was that same old sh*t, just different day. I reached the point where all I had to offer to my readers was bitterness. I'm sure nobody wanted to read that. Especially those who were thinking about making a move here. I didn't want my experiences to put a damper on someone elses "dream." My main reason for starting this blog was to keep my family updated on myself and the girls... not to talk daily about Italy's food or the landscape, which would have been great but too time consuming for my tastes.

Long story short, what started off as "we would like to take a vacation back to the States this Christmas" turned into "why bother, let's just move back!"

This could get really long and winded and I don't want that. The fact of the matter is we came here and tried it out and it hasn't worked out for us. Do I regret it? NO. It was an experience that I will remember always. The good and the bad. (Our location in) Italy just isn't the place for us, especially not a place that I want to raise my children.

So, after a bit of stressful filing of paper work, making phone calls to Rome that are going to make my final phone bill probably a billion euros, and countless trips to the Naples Consulate I can happily say that Tony is in possesion of a Returning Resident Visa. Now, we are in the process of packing and selling. I'm ready to go home!

Giulia, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you and your family here...I think I understand what you mean about the location not being right for you or a good place to raise your girls. I have misgivings about it too. We've been seriously considering moving to another region for a long time now...but back to you, I'm glad you have no regrets and I hope you have a safe and uneventful move back to the US. Best of luck!

I give you lots of credit for moving (to Italy and back) That's exactly what I did. Instead of dreaming 'Is Italy right for me?' I went there. You did too, and you took your family! Brava for that! You are all better people for the experience. I wish more people stateside (and Italy side) could make the move and discover other ways of thinking, doing etc. etc.
But for now, welcome back to NJ!! And if ever you are in Central Jersey send me a line!

Wow I feel like all my friends both foreign and Italian are leaving/have left Italy. :(

Good luck back in NJ! As others have said I'm sure your experiences here have been great for you as a family and will stay with your girls forever.

    Addio!
